The Kerameikos museumJust outside the ancient walls
In the museum are the major finds. Well, some of them. Others are in the National Archeological Museum.
Here the monument of the sisters Demetria and Pamphile (sitting), ca. 320BCE.
In the language of gravestones, the sitting person is dead, the standing are their relatives or friends.

Only the wealthy could afford a fancy grave. Does this fatally undermine the equality democracy needs? So around 310 BCE an order prohibited the costly monuments. These are the simple ones that were used instead.
