The Blue Bay Hotel
The Blue Bay Hotel, located in Skala, is a wonderful place to stay in Patmos ... and they have a web site. (Up 9/11/06; posted 4/11/03)
Located around the corner to the east of the main harbor in Skala, the hotel is removed from the noise but within very easy walking distance of the main town, ferry connections, banks, etc

The road you see in the foreground curves around to the left and leads directly to the central square and harbor landing in Skala. It is just a 3-4 min. walk.

To the right is the outer harbor and the ocean so you are located right at the water.

Breakfast is taken outdoors on the veranda at the left of the building. Most rooms face the sea and have balconies and bathrooms.

The owners are Vasileios and Maria Karantani

Living in Australia during the winter, Vasileios and Marie speak excellent, Aussie-accented, English (and Greek, obviously, and probably some other languages as well). Their children are also involved in the management of the hotel.

They are the perfect hosts and keep a well-run, gleaming hotel. "Quiet, immaculate, attractive, and comfortable," in the words of Frommers.

I've stayed there only once, but friends have been back several times and the experience was consistantly good.

The Blue bay is mentioned in Frommer's Greece from $45 a day. Trip Advisor has customer reviews. (Up 9/11/06)

360 has a panorama taken from one of the room balconies. (Up 9/11/06)

What do you see out your window? This was taken from our balcony, looking east near sunset with a telephoto lense. The islet of Hilomondi is in the distance at right.

Costs vary by time and length of stay as in all Greek hotels. Rates for 2004 were 80 - 110 Euros for a double depending on season and length of stay.

Rooms have bathrooms en suite.
