The site

"[Delphi] is by common consent the most spectacularly beautiful ancient site in Greece, and the one which, even to the uninitiated, most vividly evokes the Classical past." Blue Guide to Greece, 1995, p. 389.

You approach the site now by car, rather than on foot, but it is still an impressive climb into the mountains.

The Treasury of the Athenians (ca. 590 BCE, reconstructed 1903-06). It housed the offerings of Athens.

View of the columns of the Temple of Apollo. This was the temple where the oracles held forth. The columns were reconstructed in modern times.
